We got a 2009 Rally Yellow TC Balt recently. Bat got a conservative performance tune and dyno'd at 276/331 ... dam that thing spins the tires all the way thru 2nd!! He has a few vids posted (see Batboy). He also captured a buddy of his on my camera at KCIR -- REVHIGH doing 12.80 run. He has some of the Hahn equipment on his car. Thanks for the nice comments, Sean, you definitely know your engine :)
BTW 36bd9fbd, get your facts straight you obviously know very little about ECOTECs, all 2.0L & 2.4L are in fact DOHC engines. It will in fact stock DO 160mph w/ 260hp engine, I am working on a '09 SS 350+/-hp with help from Hahn RaceCraft. Plan on boosting even more to over 400 and breaking 200mph while remaining street/emissions legal. They are doing 248mph off stock block w/ 800hp, this engine dominates everything w/ four cylinders. Clearly you think they used the 2.2L ECOTEC as a platform which has SOHC and is in the base Cobalts.(From Chevrolet Web)With 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 2000 rpm, it's the most powerful engine in its class.(1) This dual overhead cam, 16-valve turbocharged engine gives SS Turbocharged Coupe and Sedan improved performance over the previous Cobalt SS Supercharged models while offering an EPA estimated 22 MPG city, 30 MPG highway.
its a fun car i took 1 for a spin my wife wants one bad
Stupid, she does have her facts straight this sob will do 160. If you don't like it, too frickin bad.
are you serious wow i didn`t think it was that fast awesome
Bottom line, she likes the car. I say go get the car when you have the opportunity to. Modify the crap out of it and get as much hp as you can. Have fun with the car!
I got the original posted facts straight from Edmunds whom I assume everyone knows is a dependable source of information. According to another reliable source, Car and Driver: "Top speed is as high as 160mph, so long as you forgo that 'ginormous', drag-hyphen heavy optional spoiler."Third source, Motor Trend: "Making that grin even wider are a top speed of 160mph and estimated combined fuel economy of 25mpg." According to J D Power: "According to Chevrolet, the result is 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds with a top speed in excess of 160mph." I have my facts straight.
That's a Drag limited top speed.
The new SS has single over head cam and has a top speed of 146mph, not 160. Get your facts right.
